Our Hearts

Dear Father, thank You for helping us understand that we must obey Your command to love You with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our might (see Deuteronomy 6:5), so that our hearts may be filled with You alone to make us pure and true (see James 4:8). Give us the desire to seek godly wisdom and understanding (see Proverbs 2:1-6).

Thank You for Your promise: “A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall heed My ordinances, and do them” (see Ezekial 36:26, 27). Thank You for blessing us with such a burning desire for a clean heart, O God, and for renewing a right, persevering and steadfast spirit within us (see Psalms 51:10). We want to hear Your warning, Lord, not to harden our hearts (see Psalm 95:8), for You desire to make our hearts soft (see Job 23:16).

May we let You, Lord, keep our hearts pure with all diligence, for out of the heart are the issues of life (see Proverbs 4:23). We need Your strength to flee from the temptation of lust, for a good man produces good deeds from a good heart, and a wicked man produces evil deeds from his hidden wickedness. Whatever is in our heart overflows into our speech (see Luke 6:45). May we be sin sensitive in every area of our lives every day. May we worship and serve You with a clean heart and willing mind, Lord, for You see our hearts and know our every thought (see I Chronicles 28:9)

We pray that we will let the peace of God rule in our hearts (see Colossians 3:15) and that we will let You, Christ, be more and more at home in our hearts, living within us as we trust in You. May our roots go down deep into the soil of Your marvelous love; may we be able to feel and understand how long, how wide, how deep and how high Your love really is and to experience this love ourselves, though it is so great that we will never see the end of it. And so at last, God, we will be filled up with You (see Ephesians 3:17-19).

Lord, we desire to be clean, for You enable the righteous to be glad; You let them be in high spirits before God, yes, You let them jubilantly rejoice (see Psalms 68:30)! For Your eyes, Lord are upon the righteous, and Your ears are attentive to their prayers (see I Peter 3:12).
